Teaching and Administration Team

Our teachers at Dragonflies Dance are professional, experienced and fully qualified. All teachers hold an enhanced DBS check, PPL/PRS music licences, appropriate insurance and up to date safeguarding and first aid training and are passionate about dance education continuing to update and develop their qualifications regularly through teacher training courses. We are also  proud to be a teacher training school and offer  mentoring for the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies qualification.

Libby Hanley BA(Hons) RAD RTS L.ISTD DDE DDMIX AA2 - Principal 
First Aid (2019)  and Safeguarding Level 3 (2020) School Safeguarding Lead

Libby has been school principal for 8 years and has over 10 years dance teaching experience. Libby grew up in London, Berkshire and Somerset and as a true all-rounder loved dance, teaching and choreography from a young age. Always performing at every opportunity with English Youth Ballet, County Choirs, Show Choirs, Wells Cathedral, starring in local musicals and even choreography for a local professional performance at the age of just 15 years for hit singer Shenna (of the No.1 hit The Weekend). 

Libby trained first at full time vocational training college Dance Academy South West in Dance and Musical Theatre receiving her Diploma and Advanced 2 ISTD Modern Theatre Examination and then on to the Royal Academy of Dance as a full time Ballet Education student and was taught by some of the most prestigious teachers in Classical Ballet. Experiencing teaching her own classes in a variety of settings including vocational ballet, community dance and A/S Level Dance. Libby chose to undertake the majority of her teaching assessments at one of the biggest recreational dance schools in London, achieving excellent marks and gaining valuable experience in teaching a huge range of children. Libby taught at a number of schools and entered students for examinations whilst a student at the RAD and in addition studied the dance teaching qualifications in Tap and Modern Theatre with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. 


Upon graduating with a 2:1 degree in Ballet Education from the Royal Academy of Dance, Libby became a self-employed dance teacher; teaching at a number of dance schools and nurseries in London before returning to Somerset. Libby is now a fully qualified  instructor for Darcey Bussell's DDMIX and has her Acrobatic Arts teaching module 2 (higher level) certification. Due to her level of experience Libby has been asked to mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance since 2018, which involves training student teachers and helping them to achieve their teaching qualifications with a 100% pass rate for these teachers. Libby now holds the prestigious Licenciate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has trained with some of the top faculty members and choreography in Modern Theatre. 

Libby's students have gone on to train at prestigious associate schemes such as the Royal Ballet Junior Associates, Ballet Boost and at full time dance college, or as professional dance teachers. Libby is very passionate about all areas of dance, from choreography to coaching students to train and audition for full time professional training and encouraging complete beginners with their first taste of dance training be that at a younger or older age. 

Alison Clifton-Jones - Administration Assistant 

Ali has recently joined the team as Administration Assistant in 2018. She comes from a finance background and has over 30 years of customer service & administration experience.

Ali's daughter has been dancing at Dragonflies Dance for a number of years and she has enjoyed supporting the school throughout.

Whilst Ali has no dance training herself, so as not to miss out on the fun, she attends the weekly DDMIX classes, a mix of dance and keep fit. Ali is looking forward to her new role within Dragonflies Dance and being part of its continued success.

Miss Héloïse - Assistant Teacher

Currently studying dance and performing arts at The Space and is looking forward to a career as a professional dancer. Héloïse loves to help the younger  students especially with festival performances  and exams. 

Miss Emily (Ez) - Assistant Teacher

Emily likes to be called Ez so we know her at the school as Miss Ez! Currently a senior associate with the Ballet Boost  programme being  trained by professional dancers, Miss  Ez  strives for excellence in all of her exams and loves to encourage the younger dancers in the school. Miss Ez is considering a career as a ballet teacher so that she may continue to share her passion. 

Miss Harriett - Dance Festival Choreographer and Teacher, Assistant Teacher and Cover Teacher

Harriett has been a student with the school  for  15 years (starting with the previous owner), having danced and represented the school for many years in competitions , Harriett has won over 50 medals and titles! She is currently in her final year studying to  become a school teacher at  Plymouth Marjon University and has still  got little  brothers and sister that attend our dance school  so loves coming to see everybody. Miss Harriett holds her Advanced 1 classical ballet  examination with the Royal Academy of Dance and is working towards her Advanced 2! Miss Harriett and her mother Mrs Clements are also our fantastic exam day hair stylists, who make everybody look and feel fantastic on their special day. 

Zoe Hanley - Safeguarding Lead

With an extensive career in child support and working alongside social services in supporting young children all over the country, Zoe has all the professional knowledge and expertise to ensure safeguarding policy are adhered to within the school and always kept up to date. 
Zoe is also a fantastic seamstress and you will see lots of her handy work in our wonderful show costumes!
