Teaching and Administration Team

Our teachers at Dragonflies Dance are professional, experienced and fully qualified. All teachers hold an enhanced DBS check, PPL/PRS music licences, appropriate insurance and up to date safeguarding and first aid training and are passionate about dance education continuing to update and develop their qualifications regularly through teacher training courses. We are also  proud to be a teacher training school and offer  mentoring for the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies  qualification.

Libby Hanley BA(Hons) RAD RTS DDE DDMIX AA2 - Principal 
First Aid (2019)  and Safeguarding Level 3 (2020) School Safeguarding Lead

Libby grew up in Somerset for most of her life attending dance classes locally. At the age of 13, after looking up to her own ballet teacher for many years, Libby decided to train as a dance teacher. Libby began assisting her ballet teacher and this is where her teaching journey began. During her time at school, interested in all aspects of performing arts, Libby took part in many local amateur musical theatre productions , often playing leading roles. Libby performed with the Somerset County Youth Choir for 7 years. Performed with English Youth Ballet and attended various workshops and summer residentials with well-known dance colleges and companies. In addition had the opportunity to co-choreograph a local school performance featuring pop star “Shenna” (singer of the No.1 hit “The Weekend”). 


After completing a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at Bridgwater College with Distinction, Libby went on to train at a vocational dance college in Bristol (DASW) where she studied in depth a range of styles (Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hip, Contemporary, Singing, Drama, Musical Theatre) and achieved the Advanced 2 in Modern Theatre with the ISTD . Libby then auditioned for a place at the Royal Academy of Dance.

During her time at the RAD Libby was taught by some of the most prestigious teachers in Ballet Education. Experiencing teaching in a variety of settings including community dance and A/S Level Dance. Libby chose to undertake the majority of her teaching assessments at one of the biggest recreational dance schools in London, achieving excellent marks and gaining valuable experience in teaching a huge range of children. Libby taught at a number of schools whilst a student at the RAD in addition studied the ISTD dance teaching qualifications in Tap and Modern Theatre. 


Upon graduating with a 2:1 degree in Ballet Education from the RAD and the University of Surrey, Libby became a self-employed dance teacher; teaching at a number of dance schools and nurseries in London before returning to Somerset. Libby is now a fully qualified  instructor for Darcey Bussell's DDMIX and has her Acrobatic Arts teaching module 2 (higher level) certification. Libby is a mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance, which involves training student teachers and helping them to achieve their teaching qualifications. 

Libby is very passionate about all areas of dance, from choreography to coaching students to train and audition for full time professional training to encouraging complete beginners with their first taste of dance training be that at a younger or older age.

Libby believes dance in all styles is suitable for anyone who wants to learn and that dance has a huge inclusivity factor and  contributes to positive all round health and well being and a strong sense of community. 

Georgia Dare - DDE AA1 Dance Academy South West - Dance Teacher
First Aid (2019) and Safeguarding (2020) Certification

Georgia has been dancing at Dragonflies since the age of 6, starting with the previous owner of the school Anne - Marie Crampton. Georgia is a qualified Modern Theatre and tap dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and a qualified Acrobatic Arts instructor (module 1) and is able to enter students for examinations. Georgia is currently  in her final year of the Royal Academy of Dance CBTS qualification with Miss Libby as her professional Mentor, as part of this course Georgia has spent time on RAD teachers residential courses with some of the top professionals in ballet education, training directly under their expertise and is up to date with all the most recent information from the RAD.

Georgia holds pediatric and emergency first aid certifications, is insured for all areas of dance plus acrobatics and relevant music licences and regularly updates  her safeguarding children certification (2020). 

Georgia holds her Vocational Graded Advanced 1 Ballet and Modern theatre qualifications and is studying the Advanced 2 level which is the highest that can be achieved. Georgia has always enjoyed all aspects of dance and performance and has completed a BTEC in Performing Arts at Bridgwater College with Distinction. 

Georgia has choreographed and coached many dance festival and competition solos for our school with excellent results (receiving 1st place in classical ballet). Georgia enjoys teaching a range of classes at the school at both branches from 3 years to adults and most recently is enjoying being a new mum to baby Olivia! 


Alison Clifton-Jones - Administration Assistant 

Ali has recently joined the team as Administration Assistant in 2018. She comes from a finance background and has over 30 years of customer service & administration experience.

Ali's daughter has been dancing at Dragonflies Dance for a number of years and she has enjoyed supporting the school throughout.

Whilst Ali has no dance training herself, so as not to miss out on the fun, she attends the weekly DDMIX classes, a mix of dance and keep fit. Ali is looking forward to her new role within Dragonflies Dance and being part of its continued success.

Miss Héloïse - Assistant Teacher

Currently studying dance and performing arts at The Space and is looking forward to a  career in professional dance. Héloïse loves to help the younger  students especially with festival performances  and exams. 

Miss Harriett - Assistant Teacher

Harriett has been a student with the school  for  15 years (starting with the previous owner), she is currently studying to  become a school teacher at  Plymouth Marjon University and has still  got little  brothers and sister that attend our dance school  so loves coming to see everybody and help out. Miss Harriett holds her Advanced 1 classical ballet  examination with the Royal Academy of Dance and is working towards her Advanced 2!

Miss Emily (Ez) - Assistant Teacher

Emily likes to be called Ez so we know her at the school as Miss Ez! Currently a senior associate with the Ballet Boost  programme being  trained by professional dancers, Miss  Ez  strives for excellence in all of her exams and loves to encourage the younger dancers in the school. Miss Ez is considering a career as a ballet teacher so that she may continue to share her passion. 

Katie Herriot - RAD  RTS(CBTS) , Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance (Hammond  School) - Cover Teacher

Katie began dancing at the age of 4, as she grew older she decided dance was a passion she wanted to pursue as a career. At the age of 14 Katie was accepted into the prestigious vocational training establishment, ‘The Hammond School,’ receiving professional training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, commercial/hip hop, singing, acting and musical theatre. Katie then continued into the upper school, dancing lead roles in ballet productions and many dance pieces.

Upon leaving ‘The Hammond Upper School’ Katie graduated with a level 6 diploma in professional dance. Katie is now approaching completion of the RAD CBTS, which gives registered teacher status with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Katie was previously employed at ‘Taunton School’ teaching jazz, contemporary and musical dance pieces. In her time there Katie choreographed many dances for a wide age range and put on numerous productions receiving excellent feedback from students, parents and colleagues. Katie for the past year also taught at ‘The Nicky Jenks School of Dance,’ aiding students working towards examinations in ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap.


Katie loves to teach because she likes to see students grow, developing their dancing skills and confidence while having fun and gaining fulfillment Katie was teaching the classes at our Curry Rivel branch but due to moving further away is now available as a cover teacher as she was wanting to keep her connection with our school after enjoying teaching the students so much during her time with us.
